The Service is operated by Editerra AB, Sibeliusgången 24, 164 77 Stockholm, Sweden. Org.nr: 559441-6454. Editerra AB is the data controller where applicable. Contact: legal@alfabook.io.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the Service, αBook may collect or process:
- Name and account information
- Email address
- Authentication information associated with email/password authentication or supported sign-in providers such as Google, Apple, or Facebook
- User-created annotations, messages, comments, and other shared content
- Images and videos you upload
- Club and other supported group membership information
- Library, book-related, and application activity necessary to provide αBook functionality
- Device and technical information necessary for functionality, security, diagnostics, and supported analytics
- Push-notification tokens and preferences where applicable
2. How We Use Information
We use information to create, authenticate, and manage accounts; provide and maintain αBook; maintain personal libraries, annotations, book progress, and other requested functionality; enable communication and content sharing; store and deliver user-created content and media; send notifications where enabled; maintain security, prevent misuse, diagnose technical problems, and improve reliability; comply with legal obligations; and enforce our Terms.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
For users in the European Economic Area and other jurisdictions where a legal basis is required, processing may rely on performance of a contract, consent, legitimate interests such as security and service reliability, and compliance with legal obligations. Where processing is based on consent, consent may be withdrawn at any time without affecting processing performed before withdrawal.
4. User Content and Sharing
Users may create annotations, messages, upload images or videos, and share content with selected users, clubs, or other supported groups. Users remain responsible for content they create, upload, publish, send, or share through the Service.
5. Data Storage and Security
αBook uses cloud infrastructure, including services provided through Google Cloud Platform, to store and process application and user data.
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or misuse. No electronic storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
6. Third-Party Services
αBook may use third-party services including Google Sign-In and Google Cloud Platform, Apple Sign-In, Facebook Login, Firebase services, and push-notification infrastructure providers. These providers may process information according to their respective terms and privacy policies.
7. Push Notifications
Push notifications are optional. Users can control notification permissions through αBook settings where available and through their device settings.
8. Data Retention
Personal information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate operational, security, dispute-resolution, and legal purposes. When information is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymized, subject to applicable legal obligations and legitimate retention requirements.
9. Account Deletion
Users may delete their αBook account directly within the application.
Account deletion removes account data and personal information associated with the account, subject to applicable legal or operational retention requirements. Content previously sent or shared with other users or groups, such as messages or BookTalk posts, may remain where necessary to preserve conversations or shared content, but may no longer remain associated with an active user account.
10. Age Requirement and Children’s Privacy
αBook is intended for users aged 18 or older. Users must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service.
αBook is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly permit individuals under 18 to create accounts. If we become aware that an account belongs to an individual who does not meet this age requirement, we may restrict or delete the account and associated personal information.
11. Your Rights
Depending on applicable law, users may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; receive certain information in a portable format where applicable; withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; and lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.
12. International Transfers
Some service providers may process personal information outside Sweden or the European Economic Area. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards are used for international transfers of personal information.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Where changes are material, we will provide appropriate notice where required by applicable law. The “Last Updated” date identifies the current version.

3. User-Generated Content
Users retain ownership of content they create or upload to αBook. By submitting content through features intended to store, display, transmit, or share it, users grant Editerra AB the limited rights necessary to host, process, transmit, display, and otherwise handle that content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service.
Users are responsible for content they create, upload, send, publish, or share. Users must not create, upload, send, publish, or distribute content that is unlawful; threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, sexually exploitative, fraudulent, malicious, infringing of intellectual-property or privacy rights, impersonating, spam, or otherwise prohibited by these Terms or applicable law.

5. Moderation, Reporting and Enforcement
Editerra AB may review reports concerning user-generated content or conduct and may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms, applicable law, or platform safety requirements. Where appropriate, we may warn users, restrict functionality, suspend accounts, or terminate accounts. Users may report inappropriate content or conduct through reporting functionality provided in αBook or by contacting legal@alfabook.io.
6. Availability
The Service may be updated, modified, suspended, or discontinued. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
7. Third-Party Services
Certain functionality may depend on third-party services, including authentication, cloud infrastructure, analytics, and notification services. Use of third-party services may also be subject to the terms and privacy policies of those providers.
8. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including applicable mandatory consumer rights. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Editerra AB is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of or inability to use the Service.
9. Account Deletion and Termination
Users may delete their account using the account-deletion functionality provided within αBook. Deleting an account initiates deletion of associated personal information as described in the Privacy Policy, subject to legally required or otherwise lawful retention.
Editerra AB may suspend or terminate access where a user materially violates these Terms, threatens the security or integrity of the Service, engages in prohibited conduct, or where action is required by law.
10. Intellectual Property
The αBook application, branding, design, software, and other proprietary elements of the Service are owned by Editerra AB or its licensors and are protected under applicable intellectual-property laws.
Certain αBook physical product designs, including NFC sticker designs and related visual elements, are protected by registered intellectual-property rights, including EU Registered Community Design No. 015047606-0001.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of αBook intellectual property to users.
11. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Sweden, without limiting any mandatory rights or protections available to consumers under applicable law.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes materially affect users’ rights or obligations, appropriate notice will be provided where required. Continued use of the Service after updated Terms become effective may constitute acceptance where permitted by applicable law.
